My kids have been using Time 4 Learning since August and it just wasn't working for us. There was WAY too much that they had to read on their own, and it was very self taught. My husband and I both work full-time from 8-5. I have the luxury of working from home every day, so I can be here with the kids while they're doing school. However, I cannot devote 100% of my time to sit and read the lessons to them and be the teacher. I was looking for something that was more teacher led, and not on the computer. Time4Learning was a computer based curriculum and I found my kids getting distracted a lot and wandering off to other sites to play games while I wasn't watching. So, when my sister in law told me that Abeka was DVD based and an actual teacher taught all the lessons, I was thrilled!
My question is, where do I start??? I won't be able to purchase the curriculum for both kids (grades 6 and 4) until the end of February. Are they going to be so far behind that they'll have to continue school throughout the summer? I really enjoy getting them involved in summer camp 3 days a week during the summer to give them some socialization and a chance for them to get away from mean old Mom for a few days. :) Also, it gives me a little break so I can have a few days a week to work in peace.
Any suggestions/ guidance/ advice would be WONDERFUL!
Thank you,
Natalie

Great question, Natalie! To get the best answer, you will need to call Abeka directly and ask. We've always started school at the beginning of the school year. I'm not really sure if the children would need to be tested or where in the books/DVD they would start. Here is their toll free number: 1-800-874-3592.
God's Blessings
