Our 12 year old will NOT research anything. How do you teach a reluctant child how to research?
Reply to Reluctant Researcher:
I would start by having him(?) research something he likes to make it more fun and interesting. The internet is chock-full of information. You may find picture books at the library. That in itself would be a good lesson on locating books in the library. Or what about interviewing someone he knows, making it more of an "investigation" than "research".
Use the word FUN as you give suggestions so it doesn't seem like work! Once he gets a desire to learn more about something he likes, the rest will come.
Hopefully that helps get you off to a good start.
