I'm thinking about 4H & Scouts for my 3 year old daughter. I remember when I was in school we had a 4 H club. But, I don't know of anything else outside of public school except Girl Scouts. Any suggestions? :)
Diane's reply:
Both 4H and Scouts are excellent programs. Check out the 4H Website and the Girl Scout Website for information about your particular state.
None of my children were scouts (my husband was!), but I can tell you that she is too young yet for 4H. The earliest program is called Cloverbuds and it's for kids ages 5-8.
Even though your daughter is a little young, you might consider visiting a couple of clubs that you found in your area from the link above. Every club is a little different. You may find one that meets at a time that is more convenient for you or you may find one with project leaders that may be of interest for your daughter. A homeschool mom formed our group years ago and it is still active today.
You'll be able to take a peek at some of the things we did via our
4 H Information page. I especially encouraged them to do the Speaking and Demonstration Contest and make Arts and Crafts Projects. But, that's not all they did!
Take your time, search out what's best for you and your family. We have many fond memories of 4H and am hoping that my future grandchildren consider joining, too!
